Sichuan Otsuka was established in 2002 as the third pharmaceutical enterprise invested by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Japan in mainland China, integrating R&D, production and sales.
The marketing headquarters is located in Chengdu, with the manufacturing base in Leshan High-tech Development Zone covering 50 mu (3.3 ha), officially completed and put into operation in July 2003.

After the "5.12" earthquake in 2008, the company acted swiftly, being among the first to donate medicines, supplies and funds to the hardest-hit areas. In 2019, respiratory medicines were donated to pneumoconiosis patients through the China Social Assistance Foundation.
